Across eleven schools, moving the first examination slot from 7:40 to 8:50 produced measurable gains in every subject, with mathematics showing the widest margin.
We did not teach differently. We just stopped testing children before they were awake.
The catch
Transport rosters had to be rebuilt, and that is the piece other districts have found hardest to copy.
