Metro ridership crosses a million a day as the last interchange opens
The final link between the two corridors cut average journey times by nineteen minutes, and commuters moved almost overnight.
The interchange had been the missing piece since the network opened. With both corridors now joined under one concourse, passengers no longer surface, cross a road and re-enter.
What changed for commuters
Transport authority figures put average journey times across the east-west route at fifty-one minutes, down from seventy. The saving comes almost entirely from the removal of the street-level transfer.
People will use public transport when it is genuinely faster than the alternative. That is the whole formula.
What comes next
Two further stations on the northern arm are scheduled to open within the year, and feeder bus routes are being redrawn to match the new interchange rather than the old terminus.
