Community health workers with smartphones are catching conditions earlier

A simple screening app turned routine home visits into a genuine early-detection network.

The visits were already happening. What changed is what gets recorded during them.

The workflow

A short structured questionnaire flags cases that warrant a clinic referral. Workers needed less than a week of training, and the tool works without a live connection.

Referral numbers rose, which looked like a problem until the diagnosis data arrived: far more cases are now being caught at an early stage.
